Part 2 Nagargal - connection between Nagar tribe, Indran & Buddhism
In our previous blog, we saw that Indran was named as GOD, but he was also depicted as a god with adultery and drinking habits (those who haven't read, please click to read it here and continue). We'll talk more about Indran in this post, and what could be the basis for his defamation.
Let's have a look at how Indo Aryans have portrayed him in literature.
- He is referred as weather God.
- Please take note that he is also associated with war .
- Even today we can see lot of people name with Indra, and these names are common in Nepal & Indonesia too.
- Indran is also assoiciated to Rivers and there is 3 rivers still. one in Indonesia and another in Nepal & Odisha
- The river name in Odisha is called River Indravathi. Please read a mythical story behind the story.
- The river name in Nepal is also called as River Indravati but without any mythical story.
- The river in Indonesia is called River Indragiri. River is named because of the place name, which is called Indragiri which is in Sumatra.
- Indra Patra Fortress is also located in Bandar Aceh, in Indonesia
Who is that Hindu Population?
- who is that Hindu Population
- Indra Jātrā, most commonly known as Yenyā is the biggest religious street festival in Kathmandu, Nepal celebrated as the festival for lord Indra. And the way they celebrate the festival with hoisting a pole (kodi yetram / கொடியேற்றும்) and Chariot procession (Ther Thiruvizha / தேர் வீதி உலா) click here to read more on how they celebrate in details.
- In Hindu cosmology, the universe is divided into the three worlds: Svarga (சுவர்க்கம்), Prithvi or Martya (பூமி) (earth/mortal plane) and Patala (பாதாளம்) (gross dimensions, the underworld). Patala is composed of seven realms/dimensions or lokas.
- The seventh and lowest of them is also called Patala or Naga-loka, the region of the Nagas. The Danavas (தானவர்கள்), Daityas (தைத்தியர்கள்), Yakshas (இயக்கர்களும்) and the snake-people Nagas (நாகர்கள்)(Serpent-human), live in the realms of Patala logam.
- In Vajrayana Buddhism, caves inhabited by asuras அசுரர்கள்) are entrances to Patala. According to suriya sitandam, The South Pole of the Earth is referred to as the Underworld and the North Pole as the Naval Island (நாவலந்தீவு or ஜம்புத் தீவு).
- In the wikipedia, they have used the word Jambu thevu, instead of Navalan thivu, just not to give easy exposure on the tamil name.
- I wonder when the Gautama Budha's birth and death are uncertain, how did the historians concluded that Budha was born in Nepal.
- There is another name called Sakyamuni for Budha. This and the evidence of the early texts suggests that he was born into the Shakya community.
- They have agreed that Shakya is non Aryan
- Having said Shakya community are Non Aryans, i am sure Indo-Aryans would be calling them tribes and cursing them with all phrases right, see below
- No written records about Gautama were found from his lifetime or from the one or two centuries thereafter. But from the middle of the 3rd century BCE, several Edicts of Ashoka (reigned c. 269–232 BCE) mention the Buddha, and particularly Ashoka's Lumbini pillar inscription commemorates the Emperor's pilgrimage to Lumbini as the Buddha's birthplace, calling him the Buddha the Shakyamuni.
- Lets see what the todays script says about Buddha biography. Buddha mother name is Maya Devi.
- Take note on the tradition of girl moving to her father place to give birth is Shakya Tradition.
- Above proves that Shakya were basically rice farmers. Also in below proof take note that what language Buddha used is also unknown.
- There is no clear evidences given on who the actual Shakya community is in the history. Its deliberately confused with many stories and relating them with Soorya vamsam blah blah....
Yakshini (Iyaaki) |
- But there is still enough evidence in their stories that the Shakya clan is non-Aryan, that they spoke an arrogant language that was not Indo-Aryan, and that they had traditions like marrying within their community and the girl going to her father's house to give birth, which are clearly traditions found in South Indian communities, particularly Tamil communities. We also observed Buddha's mother, Maya Devi, giving birth to Buddha under a tree, which is extremely similar to the Yaksha (Iyakargal - ) standing posture while holding a tree.
- Also, the Yaksha, who were the aborigines of Sri Lanka at the time, and whose famous monarch is kubera, who is mentioned in Buddhist and Chinese texts. Yakshas are depicted as rude people, rakshas, and individuals who guard temples in Indian Vedic literature. They do agree, however, that they are Naga worshippers.
- Buddha was a strong critic of Indo Brahmins and their practices.
- Wait, i can here some one saying, is buddha a dravidan party? 😁😁. Even before all this Dravidan parties came into existence, the first person to go against the Brahminism was Buddha himself.
- So one would easily understand that, how could the Indo-brahmins would have left Buddha and Buddhism without hurting. They did, but
- Because this topic is about Indira, we won't go into further depth on Buddha (I'll continue in another post about Buddha and Buddhism). Buddhist texts and a basic comprehension of Buddhism are required to understand Indra, which is why I have included Buddha in this illustration. To summarise Buddha, he was known as Shakyamuni, and Shakya is a community and they are non-Indo-Aryans who spoke a non-Indo-Aryan language, worshipped trees and Nagas (snakes), and were rice farmers. Buddha's language, as well as where he was born and died, and when he lived, are all unknown. And Buddhist script has provided clear evidence that Mount Meru (sumeru) existed, which we refer to as Kumari Kandam, and all of the descriptions fit what historians state about kumari kandam today. Indra, Kubera, and Nagas ruled over this land. Maya devi, Buddha's mother, had a dream in which a white elephant entered her right side, and months later, Siddhartha (buddha) was born.
- Previously, we saw Indrapradesham was under Indra, and the Nagar community lived there, where Arjuna killed them in order to build the Pandavas' capital, which is also known as Indraprastha, and is linked to modern-day New Delhi. It is also yet to be proven archaeologically that Delhi is the actual Indraprastha. Then there's Indra the God, who is characterised as a god who commits adultery and is tied to drinking habits; he's also known as the weather god, and he's typically represented in paintings riding a white elephant (vaganam). We've also seen that Indra is the ruler of svarga (heaven), and Buddhist writing explains that swarga (heaven) was described as the sky above Mount Meru (Kumari Kandam), and Indra, like Buddha and Buddhism, is either worshipped or commemorated in places like Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia. Above all, don't forget that Indiran's wife's name was Indrani.
