Relationship between Number 7, Sabtha Kanni & Assevagam
In the early days, Aseevagam was primarily a way of life (culture) for Tamils. It has no idols or deities, and it was founded mostly on philosophy and concepts. In Aseevagam, the number 7 has been used extensively. It begins at Kumari Kandam, which is thought to be Assevagam's birthplace. Assevagam is linked with Nagar community and it was the tradition followed by Nagas. Kumari Kandam itself was divided into 7 different regions, and each region classified into 7 different categories making it total of 49 territories ( நாடு ). We can see a clear description about this in Silapathigaram ( சிலப்பதிகாரம் ).
